The UK CAA has released updated guidance for applicants taking the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL – Aeroplanes) skills test. Published under CAA Standards Document 3 (V1.2), the document is intended to help applicants prepare for the test by providing information regarding conduct of the test, assessment criteria and administrative procedures.
The authority advises that Standards Document 3 provides advice and information, but does not give precise details of every potential exercise or manoeuvre. Instead, the document is intended as a reference source for pilots, instructors and examiners. It explains the administrative procedures required to undertake the skills test for a CPL, and ensures the way the tests are conducted is standardised across the aviation community.
