Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam recently signed a deal for ten P2010TDIs with the state-owned Finnish Aviation Academy (FINAA). The FINAA trains between 80 to 100 professional pilot students annually, making it the largest ATO (Approved Training Organization) in the country.
Following a rigorous public procurement process initiated in late 2024, Tecnam was selected from among three strong contenders. “These will be the first ten Tecnam aircraft in our fleet, and they will replace our legacy four seat aircraft,” said Ari Tolonen, Managing Director and Accountable Manager of the Finnish Aviation Academy. “We are eagerly looking forward to this cooperation and the arrival of the new aircraft. This is a huge step for our future.”
The first deliveries of the ten P2010TDIs are scheduled to begin in March 2026. Based on recent data and industry benchmarks, Tecnam claims it offers the greenest training fleet in the world and that flight schools using the Italian company’s single and twin-engine fleet can save up to ten tonnes of CO2 emissions for each student who completes a Commercial Pilot Licence – a 60% reduction compared to a fleet using 100LL fuel across 155 flight hours, including thirty hours in a twin.
