ABOVE: In a recent video presentation, the CAA outlined its stance on EC devices (the requirements for most GA aircraft are in box 4)
Pilots, aircraft owners and other interested parties have until midnight on 22 September 2026 to respond to the CAA’s consultation on a proposed electronic-conspicuity mandate. The proposal concerns certain aircraft operating below Flight Level 100 in UK airspace. ADS-B is among the technologies and technical approaches under consideration, but the consultation also seeks views on scope, costs, transition arrangements and alternative means of compliance.
The CAA has not yet established final rules. It will publish a consultation-response document summarising the evidence received and setting out its conclusions. Responses can be submitted through the CAA’s consultation hub (https://consultations.caa.co.uk/).
