The Light Aircraft Company Ltd (TLAC) has announced that the Light Wing AC4 LSA Certified Version has now been officially cleared by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), marking a major milestone and opening the door for immediate commercial training operations across the UK.
Described as being designed as a direct, efficient replacement for ageing legacy trainers such as the Cessna 150 and 152, it is claimed to deliver dramatically lower running costs, due to a low fuel burn, simplified maintenance requirements, and a more economical engine replacement cycle. TLAC says it is purpose-built for Ab Initio training, and offers stable handling, modern ergonomics, and a highly accessible cockpit environment designed to accelerate student progress while improving safety and confidence. Its modern construction should ensure excellent dispatch reliability and significantly reduced lifetime operating costs, according to TLAC. There will be a full flight test of the AC4 in the March 2026 edition of Pilot.
