ABOVE: Hudson Benn managed to go solo on his 14th birthday despite menacing clouds
A fourteen-year-old boy, Hudson Benn, recently went solo on the day of his birthday. Although he had trained mostly using winch launches, he went solo on an aerotow. Hudson had spent the previous weeks working hard with the Cotswold Gliding Club’s instructors at Aston Down airfield to achieve this.
According to his parents, it was “also very stressful as the forecast for the birthday flight had been terrible.” On the day, and despite rain showers, he did go solo.
Everyone at Pilot sends Hudson their heartiest congratulations.
