Pilot has been contacted by Wellesbourne’s AFIS/admin officer to say that the large fly-in planned for 21 May has been cancelled on ‘safety grounds’

‘Whilst we do appreciate any support to keep the airfield open, we do consider a large number of aircraft attempting to land at Wellesbourne in addition to our usual visitors and flying schools traffic, would create a safety issue,’ says AFSO Frankie Stuart. ‘In addition all attempts to arrange a meeting with [event organiser] Landed Aviation have been unsuccessful.’

‘Please inform any interested pilots that the event will not take place and to note that we are strictly PPR by telephone Weekends and Bank holidays,’ she adds.
