The application process for 8.33 kHz radio grants has now been launched by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
All aircraft registered in the EU are required to have moved over to 8.33 kHz radios by 31 December 2017.
In recognition of the costs incurred by private pilots and light aircraft owners from making the transition from existing 25 kHz radios to 8.33 kHz equipment, €4.3m of funding is being made available by the EU.
The contract allows a maximum permitted grant of twenty per cent of the estimated total cost of 8.33 kHz equipage, including the handheld units used by many operators of LAA Permit to Fly aircraft.
Forms and guidance documents are now available on the CAA’s website
