The programme covers flight instructor certificates, gliding and PPL
The Honourable Company of Air Pilots has announced its flying scholarship programme for 2017. Here is what is available:
Private Pilots Licence
Several full scholarships are available, covering all aspects of training up to licence issue and providing up to 45 hours of flying. The course must be completed before October 2017. Applications are welcome from candidates around the world, but they must be able to attend an interview in London in person. They must also be 17 or over on 1 June.
Closing date for applications is 14 March 2017.
Flight Instructor Certificate
Sponsored by the Swire Charitable Trust, the Air Safety Trust and the Air Pilots Trust, the scholarship covers all direct training and examination costs to help the successful candidate achieve their Fixed Wing Flying Instructor Certificate. Training must be completed during the summer (before the first week of October).
Closing date for applications is 22 March 2017.
Gliding
There are several residential course scholarships for anyone aged 16 or over (on 1 July), thanks to funding from the Virgin Atlantic, Air Pilots’ Flying Club, the Air Pilots Benevolent Fund and Honourable Company members. The course consists of week-long training at a British Gliding Association Centre (dates are yet to be agreed).
