An American-registered Bonanza 36 appeared out of the cloud over White Waltham at high speed before allegedly pulling up, turning left at the end of Rwy 03 and re-entering cloud in the turn. It then reappeared out of the cloud at the threshold of Rwy 07 before making a steep turn at approximately 100 feet to land at Rwy 11.

The pilot later stated he was aware of the required 600-foot minimum, but had miscalculated the cloud base at White Waltham after being given the base on departure from Wycombe Air Park. He had been aware that he was below the minimum, was in sight of the ground and felt in control of the situation, but on reflection he conceded that a diversion would have been a better course of action.

He apologised for landing below the minimum and said he would be more cautious in future before taking off.
