From April 24 to April 27 2013, AERO Friedrichshafen, Europe’s leading trade show for general aviation, will be opening its doors. More than 600 exhibitors will present the latest products, services and trends and they all look forward to seeing you. It’s definitely time to prepare your visit to this year’s AERO.

There are many ways to travel to Friedrichshafen, whether it be by aircraft, by bus or by train. There is a range of hotel and guest house accommodation available in the Lake Constance vacationland. We have put together some advice to help you plan your trip to the trade show.

FLY TO AERO FRIEDRICHSHAFEN

All those planning to fly to Friedrichshafen Airport (EDNY) by their own plane to attend AERO 2013 will require a slot. This year, however, Friedrichshafen Airport und Messe Friedrichshafen will only provide a phone booking service for PPR slot reservation. Please contact the Slot Booking Office directly by calling +49 7541 284 – 185 or +49 7541 284 – 186. Starting April 3, 2013, slots can be booked daily from 6.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. (UTC).

For all pilots who only got an afternoon slot for flying in to AERO Friedrichshafen: when arriving later than 2.00 p.m. you will get a 1.5-day entry ticket for free. You only have to buy another entry ticket when staying longer than two days. 1.5-day tickets for your passengers will cost €24.00.

Segelfliegergruppe Markdorf/Bodensee e.V (SFG Markdorf – Markdorf Gliding Club), in cooperation with Messe Friedrichshafen enables landings at Markdorf gliderport without need for a slot or prior permission. Arrivals are possible from Wednesday 24 through Saturday 27, 2013. The gliderport will be open daily from 8.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. local time. Departures on Sunday, April 28, 2013 are also possible. A shuttle bus service between Markdorf gliderport and the Friedrichshafen show grounds will be available in the mornings and in the afternoons.

SCHEDULED AND CHARTER FLIGHTS TO FRIEDRICHSHAFEN

Friedrichshafen International Airport is served by numerous scheduled and charter airlines. Lufthansa offers international connections via its Frankfurt hub. InterSky and Germanwings operate direct flights from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Graz, Vienna and Cologne to Friedrichshafen. Visitors from the Spanish mainland can reach the city on the shores of Lake Constance via Air Berlin’s Palma de Mallorca hub. For the first time, Monarch Airlines will be offering direct flights from London to Friedrichshafen this year.

For passengers arriving at Zurich International Airport (Switzerland) or Allgäu Airport Memmingen (Germany), buses, trains and ferries are fast and convenient options to get to Friedrichshafen. IMPORTANT NEWS FOR VISITORS FROM THE UK

Fly Monarch Airlines from London Gatwick and Manchester to Friedrichshafen

UK carrier Monarch Airlines has extended its offer to include scheduled flights to and from Friedrichshafen. Since December 2012, the airline has operated flights to Friedrichshafen Airport from London-Gatwick and Manchester. The London route is being served four times a week (Monday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and Manchester twice a week (Thursday and Saturday). The airline operates A320 aircraft on the two routes.

Monarch Airlines flights are available from €37.50 (one-way) and €79.00 (return) including tax and fees.
