Flight training charity Take Off’s third year of scholarship flying was completed in August, with seven more students carrying out ten hours each of dual flight training in the Scottish Aero-Club Eurostar operated by Alba Air-Sports.

“The flying went off without hitch in an intensive programme spanning six weeks,” Take Off’s Chairman Ian Grosz tells Pilot, “quite an achievement with just one full-time instructor and one aircraft. We are very grateful to Alba Air Sports and the SAC for helping us achieve our ambitious flying schedule this year. The students have all done great, and several are set to return to continue their flying training. Those that do so will join Angus Rutherford, one of last year’s scholarship students, who is now training toward his NPPL with the help of a Take Off Subsidy Award.

“We are very proud of our students, and of the continued success of the Take Off scheme. We look forward to another year of scholarships and, given funding, making further subsidy awards to help more young people take to the air and benefit from the skills gained in learning to fly.”
