Virgin Galactic has announced that it has hired two pilots to fly SpaceShipTwo.
Michael ‘Sooch’ Masucci has thirty years of civilian and military operational and test flying experience, as well as 9,000 flight ours accrued in more than seventy types of aircraft.
His colleague, Frederick ‘CJ’ Sturckow has flown as a commander on two Space Shuttle missions, has 26 years of military flight experience and has logged 1,200 hours in space.
The pilots will report to Chief Pilot David Mackay and Vice President of Operations Mike Moses at Virgin Galactic’s headquarters in Mojave, California. They will conduct flight training and testing with Virgin Galactic’s WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo vehicles.
Virgin Galactic – which aims to become the first company to offer commercial space travel – is currently hiring for positions in commercial operations and spaceship manufacturing.
