As a result of the incident – which occurred in July – Avantair has grounded its entire fleet as it works alongside the FAA on a safety review.

According to the NTSB, the aircraft flew from California’s Camarillo Airport to San Diego, picking up two passengers, before travelling to Henderson Executive Airport, Nevada.

The missing elevator was discovered by airport personnel three days later.

The pilots reported some control issues during the flight to Nevada, but said that San Diego leg appeared to be normal.

The company, which is based out of Florida’s St. Petersburg-Clearwater international Aiport, has contacted customers about the suspension of operations.
