The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) has released aircraft shipment and billings figures for the first quarter.

Worldwide, total GA aircraft shipments increased by 9.6 percent from 418 units in 2012 to 458 units this year. Billings came to a total of $4.6 billion in the first three months, up 32 percent from the same period last year.

Turboprops have done particularly well during the first quarter. Single-engined turboprops sales have increased 14.6 percent to 102 units, and there were 34 shipments of multi-engine turboprop aircraft compared to 19 last year.

Meanwhile shipments of business jets came to a total of 129 units – an increase of four percent. The piston engine airplane segment was also positive, up 3.8 percent to 193 unit deliveries.

Helicopter shipment data will be announced in a separate report.
