The Alia CX300, a fully electric aircraft from Beta Technologies, has been spotted in the UK skies as part of a European tour. Designed and built in the USA, the five-seat aircraft was shipped to Ireland and flown from Shannon to Weston Airport, then across the Irish Sea to Liverpool, and onwards to Birmingham and Coventry. Unlike an eVTOL, the Alia CX300 is a conventional take-off and landing aircraft intended for regional transport. It can carry up to five passengers or 566kg of freight, boasting a maximum range of 336nm and a top cruise speed of 135kt.
The European tour aims to showcase the CX300’s capabilities, with a planned delivery to Bristow Group in Norway for trials overseen by the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority. Beta Technologies is working with Future Mobility Campus Ireland to develop charging infrastructure, planning to install stations at Shannon Airport by 2026. This follows a successful US tour where the Alia CX300 flew 8,000nm across 25 states, demonstrating its reliability and Beta’s charging network expansion.
