Cirrus Aircraft has introduced the ‘Generation 5’ versions of the SR22 and SR22T, which feature improved load carrying capabilities.

The increase of gross weight to 3,600lbs (1,633kgs) for both aircraft enables an extra person or increased baggage to be carried.

Additionally the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) has been redesigned in order to accommodate the increase in weight.

Other changes to the airframe include strengthening of the carbon fibre, single part wing spar, the landing gear and the introduction of a flap system that allows extension to the first position at 150 knots.
