Castrol is recalling some of its two-stroke (2T) product, sold in Europe from 3 September 2012.

In a press release the company said: ‘We believe some of this product may be contaminated with water and may cause engine seizure.

‘Whilst Castrol 2T products have never been recommended for use in Micro Light 2-stroke engines, we have been made aware some customers may purchase the product for this use. Castrol is recalling the product as a safety precaution. Castrol would like to reiterate that customers should only use approved lubricants for their engines.’

The company has apologised for any inconvenience caused to its customers.

The products affected are; Castrol Act>Evo 2T 1L, batch numbers C0000126486, C0000150755 and C0000135401; Castrol Power 1 Racing 2T 1L, batch numbers C0000141735 and C0000143802; and Castrol Power 1 Scooter 2T 1L, batch numbers C0000147997 and C0000119990.

WHAT TO DO

If this product was purchased from 3 September then Castrol recommends that you drain down the engine – thoroughly flushing – check the engine manufacturer’s manual and replace with an approved product.
