ABOVE: Transport Canada requested additional requirements for the G500 and G600, compared to the FAA certification
Transport Canada has published certification documentation for the Gulfstream G500 and G600, listing additional requirements beyond the original FAA approvals granted five years ago. The Type Certificate Data Sheet references nine areas requiring attention, including stall warning systems, lift and drag device controls, engine and fuel systems, and operational considerations after cold soak.
Clarification from both Transport Canada and Gulfstream is pending. The spat between Transport Canada and Gulfstream caught President Trump’s attention, and he threatened to withdraw the certification of several Canadian aircraft – a move that would have a profound effect on both US airline and firefighting industries.
