A portable solar powered runway lighting system that – according to its creators – does not require planning permission to install has been announced.
According to a press release, the Merlin System operates above the international requirements for light intensity and its solar panels are effective even on overcast days.
It can be operated either from an on/off button in a tower or club house, or via a text message from a mobile phone.
