Swiss simulator manufacturer Brunner Elektronik AG has officially launched the Novasim MR DA42, the world’s first and only EASA-compliant Mixed Reality (MR) FNPT II simulator. Aimed at flight schools and commercial training providers, the newly certified device blends physical cockpit hardware with high-fidelity mixed-reality visuals, combining the tactile accuracy of a traditional flight simulator with the immersive flexibility of virtual environments.
As the simulator replicates the Diamond DA42’s systems, ergonomics, and operational performance to FNPT II standards, Brunner says the device delivers a ‘best-of-both-worlds’ solution, offering the cost efficiency and versatility of MR technology without compromising on the fidelity required for accredited instrument and procedural training. Brunner also says the new device reduces costs, accelerates training throughput, and enhances pilot competence by creating an ultra-realistic environment in which students can practise complex scenarios—ranging from IFR procedures to multi-engine operations—without the constraints of traditional fixed-base devices.
