Danish aerobatics enthusiasts have invented a new and exciting concept — The Vintage Aerobatic World Championship.

The first ever competition (for pre 1955 aircraft, please note) will take place alongside the annual KZ Rally at Stauning Airport on 12-14 August (see kzrally.dk).

Entrants will be invited to participate in three categories, titled in suitably vintage style: ‘Looping the Loop’, ‘Dancing the Cloverleaf’ and ‘Rolling the Circle’ – all specifically designed for vintage aeroplanes. “Please note that Looping the Loop and Dancing the Cloverleaf are flyable in a Chipmunk, Tiger Moth, Klem 35, etc,” says Bent Esbensen, chairman of the KZ & Veteranfly Klubben. (The KZVIII illustrated would be a contender.)

Lead organizer of the VAWC is Søren Dolriis, who “will be delighted to hear from you regarding your interest and/or participation”. Mob: +45 2624 8888, dolriis@syntase.dk Further details of this ‘friendly and fun’ event are to be found at vintageaerobatic.com “We would be thrilled to see you all at Stauning,” says Bent
