For operators of the Airbus H125, Airbus Helicopters has introduced a next-generation virtual reality (VR) flight simulator developed in partnership with Loft Dynamics. Now operational at the manufacturer’s headquarters in France, the system combines a VR headset delivering 3D, 360° visuals with a full-scale cockpit replica, complete with motion and vibration feedback. The result is an immersive training environment designed to replicate both the physical and cognitive demands of real-world helicopter operations.
Unlike traditional fixed-base simulators, the compact system is deployable to operators’ premises or training sites, broadening accessibility to high-fidelity simulation. The control loading replicates real control forces, while visual fidelity enables full head movement and spatial awareness, and operators have reported a convincing transition from simulator to aircraft.
