AERO 2015 will be biggest Friedrichshafen show yet

The organisers claim next month’s AERO 2015 show at Friedrichshafen in Germany (15-18 April) will be ‘the biggest yet’, 630 exhibitors having booked all available exhibition space at the great European general aviation exhibition by December last year.

“We are seeing outstanding exhibitor demand,” said Project Leader Roland Bosch. “That’s why ‘everything that flies’ will once again be our motto. The range of aircraft at AERO stretches from sailplanes, ultralights, single- and multi-engine piston aircraft, helicopters, gyrocopters and turboprops all the way up to multi-engine jets. New motors, the latest avionics, UASs, services and aviation accessories will be additional focal points.”

There will be a number of ‘special areas’ at the show, including Avionics Avenue, focusing on all types of onboard equipment for control, navigation, collision avoidance and flight planning; the Engine Area, which will feature electric, internal combustion and hybrid engines; the E-Flight Expo, featuring alternative drive concepts, under the banner Electrical, Ecological, Evolutionary; and, in addition to an indoor Unmanned Aerial Systems display, for the first time there will be an outdoor UAS flying display at the Trade Fair Lake.

More than 100 presentations, conferences and workshops on current aviation topics are planned, with representatives from pilots’ associations, regulatory authorities and the manufacturers’ associations, and general aviation groups discussing and providing information about legal and political frameworks, the current state of GA, and opportunities for improvement.

For fly-in visitors to AERO 2015 an online slot-booking system will be active from 28 March. The glider airfield at Markdorf will again be available for ultralights and powered gliders, with a shuttle service to the exhibition site, and a ‘tent city’ will offer overnight accommodation in an exhibition hall using tents provided by the organisers.
