Sandown Airport on the Isle of Wight is due to receive a renewed lease of life. The airfield operations are being taken over by a fresh team headed up by Danial Subhani.
Danial is an enthusiastic pilot and entrepreneur, and is well-known across Britain for his innovative fly-out cooking. He produces fresh and delicious meals with a camp-style kitchen galley that is all carried in his flexwing microlight.
Danial’s plans for the airfield include a re-invigorated bistro cafe that will be producing quality nourishment for hungry pilots with many ingredients grown on the airfield itself. New hangarage, coupled with planned on-site accommodation and social fire pit area complete the formation of the new air park, with easy transport to the nearby sandy beaches of Sandown Bay.
A new all-weather taxiway and some of the cheapest self-service AvGas fuel on the south coast ensure that Sandown remains an ideal destination for all.
Danial will be joined by World Air Games Microlight Champion David Broom, who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the airfield, as well as re-introducing flexwing microlight instruction to the island.
The Grand Opening of the new airfield management team will be at the Spamfield microlight rally – held on Sandown Airport – this year over the 1st-3rd July.
All types of aircraft will be welcome to enjoy the live music and entertainment on offer. It should be one to remember!
