The Air League is opening applications for its 2024 Flying and Gliding Scholarships, offering young people with little to no aviation experience an opportunity to develop the skills required to pursue a career in the aviation industry.

The aerospace charity has provided scholarships and bursaries worth over £2 million to UK recipients over the last decade, with a total of 93 scholarships awarded in 2023. Additional opportunities are introduced each year, with 2024’s programme providing specialised educational and training courses for aspiring pilots, engineers and anyone else seeking a career in the aviation industry.

“We strongly urge anyone with a passion for aviation or aerospace to learn more about the scholarships and apply,” said Ian Morrison, Chief Executive Officer at The Air League. “There are opportunities in this industry for everyone, and skills which you or someone you know may have to help take it to the next level”.

In 2023, 31% of winners were female and 49% were under the age of 18, with 47% between the ages of 18 and 25. However, the scholarships are open to anyone who meets the requirements listed in the flying and gliding application criteria (including a minimum age of 16 and 14 respectively), with no upper age limit.

Applications will close on Sunday 7th April, and more information can be found here.
