Helicentre Aviation Ltd has opened registration for its 2024 scholarships, including a Commercial Helicopter Pilot [CPL(H)] and a Flight Instructor [FI(H)] option.
Applicants for the CPL(H) scholarship (worth in the region of £70,000) must possess a PPL(H) completed with Helicentre Aviation by 31 July 31. They are invited to register their interest here for ‘the chance to apply for full funding of their hour building and commercial pilot training course’, as well as the opportunity to ‘access a range of fantastic career pathways’.
Established in 2001, the ‘leading air operation and aviation academy’ owns and operates 17 helicopters from its bases in the Leicester and Oxford. Over £1m of life-changing training scholarships, sponsorships and bursaries have been awarded since 2013, and previous recipients are now employed in ‘a diverse range of helicopter flying roles including HEMS, Offshore Energy, Search and Rescue, Utility and Pilot Training’.
A fully-sponsored Flight Instructor course is also available, after which successful applicants will be offered full-time employment with Helicentre. Candidates must hold a CPL(H) or be close to attaining one, possess a class one medical and be rated on the Cabri G2.
Previous scholarship winner James, who was awarded a commercial scholarship in 2020, completed his Flight Instructor course in 2021. As well as being mentored by industry partner Bristow, James has already flown ‘well over 1,000 hours as a helicopter pilot’.
Interested applicants may also attend a free online Helicopter Pilot Career Seminar on Tuesday 19 September, offering step-by-step information on what’s required to obtain a commercial pilot’s license and subsequent employment opportunities.
