In Alabama, a Learjet 60 was destroyed and its pilots gravely injured when it crashed off the end of the runway after hitting deer while landing. The aircraft sustained catastrophic impact damage and caught fire; only ‘heroic efforts by other pilots and ground personnel’ saved the lives of the crew.

The Learjet belonged to Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys football team, and had been despatched to pick up his son and some friends.
