Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam has unveiled a STOL (short takeoff and landing) version of its twin-engine P2012 Traveller. The P2012 STOL’s 16.6-metre wingspan makes it 2.6m wider than the standard P2012, and Tecnam has exchanged the Traveller’s pair of 350hp Lycoming TEO-540-C1As for two 375hp Continental GTSIO-520-S engines.

Even at its maximum takeoff weight of 3,680kg, Tecnam says the STOL version of the P2012 will take off in only 425m and land in 360m, almost halving the standard Traveller’s T/O and landing distances of 790m and 745m respectively.

The top cruise speed is expected to be 185kt, with a range in excess of 900nm and a useful load of 862kg. Both versions will be equipped with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics.
