The Canadian company Horizon Aircraft successfully completed initial hover testing of its Cavorite X5 eVTOL prototype in January. Brandon Robinson, CEO of Horizon Aircraft said: “This aircraft… is extremely stable, is capable of full hover at only 65% power, and has hovered with 20% of its fans purposely disabled in order to test system redundancy.”
The Cavorite X5 is lifted by ducted wing fans for takeoff and landing, meaning that during horizontal flight there are no rotors causing drag. The aircraft is expected to achieve horizontal speed of over 175mph.
