Further update on cause of 162 prototype crash

During advanced spin testing, the prototype failed to recover from a cross-control, power-on spin. The ballistic recovery parachute was activated but only partially deployed (which explains the reports of sound and sparks observed from the ground). The test pilot parachuted to safety and was unhurt. A spokesman for Cessna said it is too early to know if the timing of the development program for the SkyCatcher will be affected, but with over 1,000 orders, the company remains committed to production.
