Problems with Cessna’s LSA rectified as new tail unveiled
THE redesigned vertical tail component of the Cessna 162 SkyCatcher light sport aircraft was unveiled at the recent Sebring Sport Aviation Expo in Florida.Following an earlier issue with spin characteristics, the LSA now features a larger tail with a reduced rearward sweep. The lower dorsal fin has also been removed as once the tail had been enlarged, it didn’t contribute to overall stability.A company spokesperson said the new tail did not indicate any unrecoverable spin characteristics. There are more than 1000 orders for the SkyCatcher.www.cessna.com
