There is now a British distributor for the new Zealand-made Robin Alpha
The aerobatic Robin Alpha 160i really impressed Pilot’s editor when he flight tested it in October 2001, but he later heard that there were problems getting spares and some of the manufacturing – such as the quality of welding on the exhaust system – might have been below par. So it’s good to know that Mistral Aviation is once again able to supply this excellent design, but this time from a different source. It’s now made by Alpha Aviation in New Zealand and early indications are that all the wrinkles have been ironed out. Variants start with 120 hp and the top of the range comes with fully inverted aerobatic systems and a fuel-injected 160 hp Lycoming.
