Brit Bonhomme eyes up a return to top of the standings

Britain’s Paul Bonhomme will be hoping to snatch back his lead in the Red Bull Air Race series this weekend as the show pitches up in the picturesque new location of Vila Nova de Gaia harbour in Porto, Portugal.

Bonhomme, who has been leading the series for most of the season, slipped one point behind American Mike Mangold at the last race in Budapest and is keen to return to the top of the standings with just three races left to go in the hotly contested series. He now has 35 points to Mangold’s 36.

This weekend’s eighth race of the season kicks off on Friday at 2pm with thequalifying sessions, followed by the race finals on Saturday from 1pm.  The Porto racetrack above the River Douro will be one of thenarrowest and fastest of the season.
