They say that their members are being made to cover inefficiences in the way that the Civil Aviation Administration operates.
As of November a ‘medical service application fee’ will be introduced, which will require pilots to pay $313 whenever their health is assessed by the Civil Aviation Administration. For many this is an annual requirement.
Additionally the cost of a pilot’s licence is set to rise from $56 to $230 and auditing charges will be increased.
The Civil Aviation Administration said that its prices had not been reviewed for fifteen years and were therefore too low to meet cost recovery.
