Pilot Magazine News – April 2012

From Italy Pilot learns that the eagerly anticipated Tecnam P2010 – or ‘Twenty Ten,’ as it is being marketed as in the USA – has undergone its first ground runs prior to flight testing. When the remarkably good looking aircraft does appear, it will mark the leading ultralight and LSA manufacturer’s first foray into the single-engine four-seat market. (see the Spring issue for our full news story, alongside details of the new, direct-injection Rotax 912 iS engine announced in our last newsletter ).

With an exclusive flight test of the superb Bristell Fastback LSA, a ‘First Look’ feature on the GSAL Eindecker ‘deregulated’, a flight test of the latest incarnation of the Thruster microlight and Colin Goodwin’s take on paramotor flying, the Spring issue of Pilot currently on sale has something of a ‘budget flying’ theme.

The clocks have gone forward and 2012’s fly-ins are just beginning to take off (see our constantly-updated Calendar for dates). European headline event AERO 2012 takes place at Friedrichshafen on 19-22 April. Pilot will be reporting from the event, which showcases all the latest in GA and includes everything from R/C models to full-size bizjets. Don’t forget that the British equivalent, Aero Expo, held on 25-27 May is coming hot on its heels. Early bookings are up, and the organisers are promising a fascinating seminar programme alongside the UK’s leading trade display – and don’t forget, the centrally-located Sywell venue offers brilliant fly-in facilities.
