The PFA will become the Light Aircraft Association from the new year

As expected the Popular Flying Association (PFA) has voted to change its name to the Light Aircraft Association (LAA) for the start of next year. The PFA says it is making the move because the old name “did not clearly identify the nature or activities of the Association, and many members became convinced that its current brand image was limited, confusing and outdated”. It adds that in the new EASA era the Association must position itself to take maximum advantage of the new regime to benefit current members and attract new recruits, including many pilots who are currently almost unrepresented within the lighter end of GA. The Light Aircraft Association name would also be well aligned with the new EASA terminology, such as European Light Aircraft and Light Aircraft Pilot’s Licence.
