Flying school closes but airfield still operational
Old Sarum Flying Club has ceased trading but the airfield remains open despite rumours to the contrary circulating last week.Angus Beal, aerodrome manager told Pilot, “We’ve had lots of calls from disgruntled people who have paid upfront for PPL courses and trial lessons asking what’s happening.”It’s believed that rising fuel costs were a major factor in the decision to close the school.Lesley Maynard, managing director of Old Sarum Flying Club, said: “It’s too early to say what exactly will happen but we may go into liquidation.”Further updates will be on the website www.oldsarumflyingclub.co.uk
