Diamond test flies even more fuel-efficient Jet-A1 engine
Diamond has test flown a new, fuel-efficient turbodiesel 170hp engine in a DA40.
The engine, developed with Austro Engine GmbH and Mercedes Benz Technology (MB-Tech), is said use new combustion technology to produce the same power for 20% less fuel.
The test flight was carried out by Diamond CEO Christian Dries and managing test pilot Sören Pedersen. “As the world’s biggest manufacturer of aircraft withdiesel engines, it was obvious that Diamond Aircraft Industries wouldstrive to perfect a tried and tested new generation of Jet-A1 enginesfor the general aviation,” said Dries.
