Diamond’s DA50 Super Star makes its first flight
Diamond’s new 350hp single, the DA50 Super Star, made its maiden flight yesterday (4 April) in Wiener Neustadt,Austria. Christian Dries, CEO and owner of Diamond Aircraft, flew theaircraft as pilot in command. Also on board was Soeren Pedersendirector of Sales, as chief test pilot. The Diamond DA50 SuperStar is equipped with Teledyne Continental TSIOF – 550J engine 350+ HP and FADEC controlled twin turbo chargers. Dries said he was proud that Manfred Zipper and his team made the DA50 Super Star areality in less than 11 months from concept to maiden flight. The aircraft will be handed over today (5 April) to the flight test department and production is expected to start not later than next January.
