30 pilots will race 80 miles across the Channel
THIS Saturday 25 July a host of English and French light aircraft will take part in a race to commemorate the 100th anniversary of pioneer French pilot Louis Bleriot’s historic first crossing of the English Channel by air in 1909. The event organized by the UK’s Royal Aero Club Racing and Rally Association and French officials will see over 30 British and French aircraft compete against each other as they take off from Abbeville, France on the Somme Estuary, traveling along the northern coast of France close to Calais and across the English Channel to the finishing line at the white cliffs of Dover.Bulldog Gin is sponsoring British pilot Roger Hayes who will be flying a Bulldog aeroplane as he attempts to be the fastest across and bring home the title of Bulldog Champion 2009.The Bulldog UK Challenge 2009 follows the success of 2008 at which a world record was broken for the most amount of people arm wrestling in one place and at one time.Race Time – 14.00pm.
