Sun shines as Duxford numbers soar
THE Flying Legends Airshow at Duxford last weekend saw record numbers of visitors attend the annual show.Crowds were treated to a vast array of propeller-powered warbirds as the sun shone over the two-day event. The highlight for many was the appearance of B-17 Liberty Belle, which flew in from Georgia, USA, earlier in the week. Sadly, Duxford’s own B-17, Sally B, was grounded due to two successive engine failures ahead of the show.Displays included an array of Spitfires, P51 Mustangs as well as a selection of German warbirds and US Navy bombers. A graceful three-ship DH Dragon formation wowed the crowds while the BBMF performed a combination display featuring the Dakota, Spitfire and Hurricaine. In addition, Mikael Carlson flew his Thulin A-powered Bleriot XI replica and Chris Vogelgesang’s Yak 3 also made an appearance.www.fighter-collection.com
