The first Icarus Cup competition for human-powered aircraft will take place at Lasham Gliding Society from 13 to 22 July.
The Royal Aeronautical Society contest will commemorate the 50th anniversary of human powered flight.
It aims to move the sport from occasional record attempts into a viable activity, and features a number of challenges including a slalom course, 1km race and take off/landing accuracy task.
The winning team will receive a financial prize, while the pilot with the most points will take home the inaugural Icarus Cup trophy.
