Research paper claims JAR licence revalidation ‘hasn’t improved safety’
A CAA-sponsored post-graduate student research paper has beenpublished which claims that switching to JAR hasn’t improved GA safety. The final paragraph of the paper’s executive summary states: “The main findings of this study is that the changes to revalidation requirements for pilot licences, which JAR-FCL has implemented, have had no significant effect on the number of serious incidents and accidents involving general aviation aircraft in the UK.”The paper can be accessed though the CAA website and will probably be discussed at the 18 July meeting of the CAA General Aviation consultative council.
