Jim Bass, interviewed in the July issue of Pilot, has left Piper.
It’s not really clear why Jim Bass has left Piper, but the departure may be connected to the company’s acquisition by Imprimis on 1 May. In his departure statement to employees, he said: “All things come to an end. I have successfully completed my mission at Piper and am leaving the company in very capable hands. What I was brought in to do has been done, and it is now time for me to move on to other challenges.” His achievements include $32m in State grants to enable the company to stay in Vero Beach, the introduction of the Meridian G1000, the Matrix and the Piper Jet. The next CEO, from 26 June, will be Kevin Gould, currently VP of operations.
