Plans to redevelop land on Enstone Airfield, Oxfordshire, have been rejected
We reported last week that Enstone Airfield is facing closure, but the planning application that threatened the airport has been overruled.
The application was submitted by site owner Lomand Holdings, and included plans to build on the land currently occupied by airfield’s main runway.
Club ‘skipper’ Paul Fowler, who had encouraged supporters to send letters of objection, said: ‘I have just returned from from the planning meeting – a big thank you to everyone who wrote letters of objection. The planning application was refused unanimously. Hurrah!
The decision comes as Plymouth City Airport continues its own battle against closure: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-13219590
