Robin aircraft manufacturer gets re-start
The French manufacturer of Robin aircraft has been in financial difficulty because of cash flow problems while Thielert finds a new owner. Robin has been extremely successful with its Thielert engined Eco-flyer. We spoke to John Kistner of Robin dealer Mistral Aviation. He thinks Thielert’s problems will be resolved soon, if only because its diesel engines are militarily important because of their widespread use in UAVs. John points out that not a single Robin-installed Thielert has given trouble, which he attributes to Robin’s working directly with Thielert to ensure adequate cooling. He confidently expects Robin production (including the soon to be developed 155hp Eco-Flyer) to be re-started shortly by the new company CEAPR (initials that re-introduce the Pierre Robin name).
