A Tecnam P2006T twin-engined aircraft lit up the Paralympic Opening Ceremony last night with an incredible pyrotechnic show.The aircraft was flown over London’s Olympic Stadium by Lance Corporal Dave Rawlins – a British Army soldier recovering from injuries sustained in Afghanistan – alongside co-pilot and former Concorde Captain Tim Orchard, Tecnam’s dealer for the UK, Ireland and Iceland.Aviation charity Aerobility played a critical role in Lance Corporal Rawlins’ rehabilitation, and he gained his Private Pilot’s Licence last year.He will start work at Gama Engineering’s operations team next month – fulfilling his ambition to work in civil aviation. The company converted, flight tested and certified the provision of pyrotechnic dispensers to the Tecnam’s wingtips, and also installed LED strip lights to the wings and fuselage of the aircraft.
