Pipistrel has announced the launch of the first service operating its Velis Electro, the only certified electric aircraft in the world. The company behind the operation, NeboAir, offers flights from London to the Midlands via Shipmeadow Airfield in Suffolk. The journey starts at Damyns Hall Aerodrome (East London), stops at the Suffolk airfield, before continuing to Wickenby Airfield in Lincolnshire. Total flight time is about one hour and forty minutes, and offers pristine sightseeing and the opportunity to enjoy the countryside during the stopover.

In a press note, Pipistrel said that NeboAir ‘flies both over a densely populated area, which people usually don’t have an opportunity to see… and over the countryside in vicinity of many small airports, which offer additional safety.’
